For over 7 years, I walk every month with cancerpatients and relatives of cancerpatients. Today was my very last walk for new challenges are ahead and no more time for me to join this group in the future. As always I take my cam along. Today we visited the naturepark "Groenewoud" near the german border on the banks of the river Swalm. Late in the afternoon I shot this picture. The expert will se that there is a lot of editing, I will not give away details here but I think I pretty much succeeded in my trial to give it a 17th century oilpainting look and feel.

Last saturday I shot this picture in Venlo near the German border. First I was only impressed by the autumn colors. Today, fooling around with my editing software, I tried to edit a horizontal software tiltshift, which gives it a miniature world appearance.

Beautifull day today to go for a long walk and to take my systemcam along. Autumn is a photographic wonder and it amazes me how fast colors are changing. Just around my corner I took this frog perspective shot, thinking about the Sting song.

Today I went for a photo nightwalk with some collegue photographers to a small village in Germans NRW. Kevelaer is well known for it is a city of pilgrimage. It was the first time I experimented with the scene mode. I'm so satisfied with the results that I will add the pictures soon to this website.

No great pic today but an experiment with my Fuji systemcam. Tomorrow I'll go for a night/ blue hour shoot to Germany, and for the first time I will take my systemcam along. So I was working with the limits of manualmode on this little cam. This is the result of a 5 second shoot on minitripod F: 9,0 at 7.1 mm with ISO 100.

Shot in the spring of '14, when we visited the Bussels neighbourhood, well known with the name : Les Marolles. We went on a shoot trip with a group of collegues and a treasure of pictures on our SDcards to take home as a result. Pictures that stand out I took up in my earlier exposure else on this website, feel free to take a look. This one appeared after reducing the shadow. The title of course is a smile at his masters voice.

Indian summer citywalk with my downsized systemcam, this 16th century monument caught my eye because of the symmetry when I pushed the click button, the lady on the bike came rushing through the picture. Looking back on the shoot results on my flatscreen, I found that she makes the picture stronger.

Low sun and long shadows give it this indian summer dimension.

When autumn strikes and the wintertime shortens days by hours, I love to shoot during the twilight or the night. In my hometown this chipsshop is famous for its location on the boulevard on the banks of the river Maas. Being close to the pubs and clubs, it is allways busy late at night. Allthough it's not so obvious in this picture I shot it with a 55 mm Hoya 72 IR filter.

Sometimes a photo sits in your archive for many years untill you recognize the real possibilities. Over a year ago I shot this picture on rthe banks of the river Maas. Browsing my archive today with Bob Dylan out of my speakers, I suddenly noticed that this guy on the bicycle, is heading for the unknown. Immidiatly Bob's early song Highway sixty one appeared in my mind.

Lovely indian summer in my hometown. I had to go for the citycentre and took my little systemcam for a walk. On my way back home I noticed the beautifull autumncolors and descided to take a little detour to look how the parc looks in the late afternoon sun. This is one of the results, The title is taken from the Irish folksong Raglan Road. No afterediting was needed because I shot in Fuji's wonderfull EXR mode.

Sometimes the road of life takes strange turns. A new job coming up will end all my professional activities as a photographer and hopefully there will be enough time left to keep the skills upright in my hobby. Time to look back !! Looking back to the results of my work the picture above realy stands out. It won 15 prices including Top Class, Absolute masterpiece, Outstanding crealivity, and superb composition. Shot in February this year, late on a saturday afternoon, in Asselt on the banks of the river Maas, just before the rain came in and the low sunbeams gave this picture a colorsceme that fits a 17th century oilpainting.

Today I travelled to Maastricht for an appliance (fingers crossed) and had some time left during the afternoon. Time enough to take my Fuji for a little photowalk. The small systemcam is easy to use and offers allmost the same possibilities as my other DSLR cams. But it comes with the "easy to use hipshot" possibility. Without an annoying lens up your nose, shooting streetscenes. This little group of chinese tourists came in front of my lens and I couldn't resist.

reflecting on the wet coblestones. So I took this 15 sec. shot on my tripod strengthening the effect by a colorfocus.

When It's a rainy sunday I seldomly stay in my home but go and look for nice shoot locations. Due to the Maastricht treaty it is easy to cross the borders. For I live only a mile from the German border a whole world to discover opened up since free travel in the Schengen countries is possible. Yesterday I drove from village to village in the German NRW. This shot I took in a small town called Dülken. A view that didn't change for 200 years I'm certain. I edited it in my own style and posted it in several Noir & Blanc sites.

I love streetphotography, and I love great street photographers like Vivian Meyer, Richard Sandler or Lee Jeffries, those that focus on people in daily life with powerfull Black & White pictures. As I mentioned before in streetphotography you'll have to look carefully to see the multiple dimensions in a picture. The composition but also what the object and the background make it a strong picture. Would I have shot the boy and his dog from any other angle the picture would lose its strength

A couple of weeks ago I visited a mideival festival at the german open air museum in Grefrath. I shot this young owl. Usualy I look around before shooting knowing that the background counts in the pic you want to make. This time I had no choise. An eating German in the background destroyed the picture. Untill I found the possibility to blur the background to increase the effect I made it black and white.

A golden oldie today. A year ago the fair visited Venlo, on a dry night I went out with my tripod, mostly to make long shutterspeed shots to get a dramatic effect. This shot didn't get my attention in the first place. A new nightfairshoot is comming up so I descided to look at my last years results and found the composition and colorsceme of this one okay.

Some time ago I worked as a castleguide at the castlegardens in Arcen the Netherlands. 70 years ago a Austrian painter lived here by the name of Deuser. A special exhibition to remind the visitors of his work. So they tried to rebuildt his workingchamber. I took this pic then and today while I was browsing my archive this pic came to my attention again. So I fooled around a bit trying to re edit this picture. First I changed it into a single layar high dynamic range and then I added a layar with oilpainting structure. The result amazed me so a worthy pic of the day I think.
